Dem Post Rock verbunden, ist die Band doch weit mehr als nur vertontes Kopfkino. Das Bostoner Klang Kollektiv ist in der Lage auch ohne melodieführenden Gesang fesselnde Songs zu schreiben, die auch als solche verstanden werden können. Eben nicht nur laut – leise oder ruhig – heavy und auch kein dem Selbstzweck dienender Hintergrundscore. Vielmehr als nur die Summe seiner Songs ist das Album ein musikalischer Monolith, der sich der Stimmung des Hörers anpasst. Die Musik als Matrize des Lebens. Caspian is a rock band from Beverly, Massachusetts, a seaside town 20 minutes north of Boston. Nobody sings. Most of the time they play heavy, other times quite soft. They always try to play with heart. So far they have recorded three albums. The process is always evolving. Since 2006, Caspian have performed over 500 concerts, bringing their music to 30+ countries stretching over 3 continents.
The band is currently writing their 4th studio album, set for release mid-2012.
When drowning in the appropriate sound, you find yourself achieving the same fundamental effects in your soul as coming up for air has on the body. Caspian is that appropriate sound. These four young men have crafted a sound that is immediately riveting, emotionally devastating, and achingly passionate.
Characterized by towering walls of sound, oceanic guitar work and vicious rythymic elements, Caspian is a band that knows how to imbed itself within the part of you that refuses to easily surrender. Take a walk around the bands home co-ordinates and you might find some clues. Tan stretches of sand and the infinite blue horizon of the Atlantic might be bigger influences here than anything else. The jam packed seasonal cycle might explain the bands desire to cover everything from gentle and placid to furious and destructive, all while maintaining a unified musical sensibility, and a fierce sense of adventure.
